This lesson cost 6 hours of driving

Disclaimer: I believe you can learn from anyone. Especially people who are doing what you want to be doing. So this email is not to imply otherwise.

That said, I'm done learning certain things from people for a while.

Let me explain.

This weekend, on Saturday, I got up at 5:30am, left at six, and drove 3 hours to Austin, TX. My friend was in town for a conference for entrepreneurs and she had offered me her plus one ticket.

Even though I didn't really know the woman speaking, I'm always open to learn and thought it would be fun, so I said yes.

But despite driving three hours each way, I left the event at lunch time and headed home.

Here's why.

Because as I was sitting in the audience, I realized that almost every point she made, I already knew.

Not in an arrogant way. But a lot of it was already in the course I just got done filming!

The problem was, I still have so much I already know that I haven't implemented yet. (Marketing for the course, sales funnels, freebies, my mastermind...oh the entrepreneur life...lol)

And so as I was sitting there, I realized that trying to learn more was a cop out. And a lot of times it is for most of us.

It's a cop out because it's procrastination.

It's trying to learn more to make ourselves feel more comfortable doing what we already know we need to do.

It's wanting to hear that one more success story that's going to push us off the ledge to making our own.

And so as I was sitting in that room listening to this woman who had charged some people thousands of dollars to hear what I already teach, the only thing I could think about was getting home to implement the things I already knew.

Because for me the thing between sitting in the audience and being up on stage is implementation, not knowledge.

There are phases in life and in business.

Sometimes, it's time to study and learn. Because if you go into a situation unprepared and uninformed, it can be expensive, time consuming and even dangerous.

But there are other times when you need to close the books and turn off the lessons and go DO.

Those times where you have enough knowledge and resources to take a few steps forward or put out a minimum viable product or go out and try whatever you've been learning.

Confidence and success come from implementing what you've learned. Not learning and letting it all sit there.

You know what's funny?

So often we think learning more will give us the confidence to do. But it actually causes us more anxiety. Because the more you learn, the more you realize how much stuff you don't know yet!

Sometimes the best place to be is knowledgeable about some things and naive about everything else.

That way you can GO and learn along the way.

So my question is, what knowledge do you already have that you aren't applying to your life?

What have you been working towards that you need to jump in and do?

How can you learn and do at the same time?

The thing I see that holds so many of us back is implementation. And that's another thing I'm working on, is a group to make that easier for all of us.

But for now, let me encourage you with this...

When I was learning to swim, they taught me how to dog paddle and hold my breath in the kiddie pool. Once I got the hang of it, they took me and threw me in the big pool.

I freaked out and was about to start crying.

Until I realized that I was swimming, just like I had been taught. They forced me to implement my learning.

So what can you implement in your life right now? How can you jump in the pool? Hit reply to this email and share it with me!

And so you can hold me accountable too, by the end of this week, I will launch a downloadable networking course.

Networking scares most people - and it used to scare me too - but now it's how I get most of my opportunities. So I'm going to teach people a super simple and easy way to do it.

So that's it. Hope this helped you! Have a great week implementing and I'll talk to you soon!

Cheers to you,

Chantelle

P.S. I made an Instagram video about this today too. Check it out!
